Part Time Handwork Teacher

Position begins 2019-20 school year

River Oak Charter School, guided by the core principles of Waldorf education, and a member of the Alliance for Public Waldorf Education, seeks a professional handwork teacher to join our faculty for the start of the 2019 school year. The position is for approximately 16 hours per week, Monday - Thursday.

River Oak Charter School is a collective of educators and families committed to guiding children toward a life-long love of learning, creative thinking, and a responsible and sympathetic interest in the world. We are located in the town of Ukiah, California, which is centrally located in the gorgeous county of Mendocino - home to a diverse, progressive, highly artistic community. We are within easy driving distance of the rugged Pacific coast, 2 hours north of the San Francisco Bay Area, and about 3 hours from the Majestic Sierra Nevada mountains.

QUALIFICATIONS: Experienced Handwork Teacher, Waldorf training highly desirable.

Position begins 2019-20 school year

River Oak Charter School, guided by the core principles of Waldorf education, and a member of the Alliance for Public Waldorf Education, seeks several classroom aides to join our faculty for the start of the 2019 school year. The position is between 10 - 25 hours per week.

River Oak Charter School is a collective of educators and families committed to guiding children toward a life-long love of learning, creative thinking, and a responsible and sympathetic interest in the world. We are located in the town of Ukiah, California, which is centrally located in the gorgeous county of Mendocino - home to a diverse, progressive, highly artistic community. Part Time Food Service Director

Position begins 2019-20 school year

River Oak Charter School, guided by the core principles of Waldorf education, and a member of the Alliance for Public Waldorf Education, seeks a professional food service director to join our faculty for the start of the 2019 school year. The position is for approximately 20 hours per week, Monday - Friday.

River Oak Charter School is a collective of educators and families committed to guiding children toward a life-long love of learning, creative thinking, and a responsible and sympathetic interest in the world. We are located in the town of Ukiah, California, which is centrally located in the gorgeous county of Mendocino - home to a diverse, progressive, highly artistic community. We are within easy driving distance of the rugged Pacific coast, 2 hours north of the San Francisco Bay Area, and about 3 hours from the Majestic Sierra Nevada mountains.

QUALIFICATIONS: Equivalent to graduation from a recognized college or university with a major in home economics or a related field. The following may be substituted in place of a college degree: (1) Two years of food service supervisory experience or (2) Two years experience as a Food Service Director.

Any combination of training and/or experience that provide the desired skills, knowledge, abilities and traits to complete the job responsibilities of the position may be considered. Certification and knowledge of food preparation and handling is required. Experience within a public school district desired.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Sets guidelines for effective procedures for preparing and handling food, and for maintaining health and sanitation standards.
  • Provides standards for quality and quantity of foods prepared and served.
  • Selects, assigns, trains, supervises, and evaluates food service personnel.
  • May plan menus for all school lunches, applying principles of good nutrition and effective cost control.
  • Determines necessary food, supplies, and equipment for the food service program. Evaluates and processes bids, quotes, and contracts.
  • May order government commodities and directs distribution and use of foods secured.
  • Assists in planning cafeteria layouts, prepares specifications for selection and placement of suitable equipment and furnishings. Plans for effective use, care, maintenance, and repair of equipment.
  • May review and supervise preparation of all federal claims, school lunch, and commodity applications, and all other federal and/or state communications, pertinent to the ROCS School Food Program.
  • Uses computer to assemble and analyze data.
  • Regularly meets deadlines and adheres to schedules.
  • Maintains cafeteria records relating to time, cost, and inventory.
  • Consults with the ROCS Administrator regarding cafeteria services and promotes use of cafeteria by students.
  • Serves as a resource person in food services and nutrition for ROCS.
  • The ability to bend and lift 25 pound boxes to a height of 3-4 feet.
  • Licensed to drive in the State of California and the ability to drive a pickup truck or van.
  • Other duties may be assigned or duties listed may be reassigned to others and/or reporting relationships may be changed by the Administrator.
