Current Job openings at River Oak Charter School

Employment Opportunity:

Superintendent / Principal

FINAL FILING DATE: Open until filled

River Oak Charter School (ROCS), located in the beautiful Ukiah valley, is a community of educators and families committed to guiding children toward a life-long love of learning, creative thinking and a responsible and sympathetic interest in the world. We use Steiner-based curriculum and serve 246 students in grades K-8. Art, music, drama, storytelling, poetry and crafts are woven throughout the curriculum. Our students learn with their heads, heart and hands, building on a foundation of creativity that grows with the child to balance imagination, critical thinking and academic excellences.

ROCS is currently chartered under Ukiah Unified School District of Mendocino County and has been operating since 1999. At present we have eleven (11) teachers, one (1) administrator, and twenty-nine (29) other auxiliary staff. The governance of the school is based on a successful collaboration between the faculty, administration, charter council, and parent council. ROCS has demonstrated sound fiscal management by producing and executing a balanced budget every year, while supplementing state funding with a modest fundraising program. This additional funding supports a wide range of specialty classes including handwork, band, painting, strings, chorus, woodwork, foreign language, and movement.

The Superintendent/Principal is responsible for administering the Charter School in all day-to-day operations, as well as facilitating the planning and implementation of long-range goals for the School.

QUALIFICATIONS: Five years of responsible teaching experience, including two years of administrative and supervisory responsibility preferred.
